The Glass Forming Method

The glass cups in daily life refers to the cups which are made from glass, They have the characteristics of high transparency, strong crystal sense, and wear resistance. The following is a brief introduction to the glass forming method:

1. Hand made

It is divided into two methods: mouth blow and machine blowing:

1. mouth blow is the process of picking materials from the crucible or the kiln with a blow tube by the workers and blowing them into the shape of an iron mold. Mouth blow is subdivided into a rotary blowing method, static blowing method, nesting blowing method, and so on.

2. Machine blowing is used to produce mass products. After receiving the material, the blowing machine automatically closes the iron mold and blows into a vessel shape. After demolding, remove the cap to form a vessel. Machine blowing is divided into machine blowing method and pressure blowing method. The pressure-blowing method is to first blast the material into small bubbles (prototype), and then continue to blow into a device shape. It has higher efficiency and better quality than pure machine blowing.

2. Pressed molding

The machine press molding uses automated production, with large batches and high efficiency. Compression molding is suitable for small-shaped glass products and glass crafts, such as glass cups, glass candle holders, glass jars, glass bottles, etc. that can withdraw from the punch.

3. Free forming

Also called dieless molding. Workers pick up the material and repeatedly bake or heat it before the kiln. Since it is not in contact with the mold, the surface of the glass is bright and the shape of the product is smooth. Manufactured products are also called kiln glass products.

4. Centrifugal molding

The material is received in the rotating mold. The centrifugal force generated by the rotation causes the glass to unfold and close to the mold. It is suitable for forming large glassware with uniform walls.
